PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY

I prescribe and manage psychiatric medications for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder. I aim to minimize side effects as much as possible and work with patients to develop strategies to manage side effects when they arise.  I can also help patients wean off of medications when appropriate.

DIAGNOSIS AND EVALUATION

I provide a thorough evaluation which consists or one or two 60 minute sessions during which we carefully review your history and criteria for various diagnoses. This helps to guide a treatment plan. I make evidence based recommendations of what type of psychotherapy, lifestyle intervention, medications or other brain based stimulation therapy might be right for you.

LABORATORY TESTING AND CARE COORDINATION

I offer pharmacogenomic testing which can be an important tool in selecting an effective and tolerable medication. This involves looking at genetics and how this might impact a patient's response to medication. I also routinely coordinate care with primary care providers and check lab work to discern if an underlying medical condition might be contributing to psychiatric symptoms. Additionally, I monitor weight and vital signs and order specific labs that are necessary when taking certain psychiatric medications
